Introduction

One of the great advantages that a person can gain from reading and studying the Bible is the ability to solve any problem that life may bring. The Bible gives the right way to do things that will bring success. It also shows the wrong way to do things that lead to failure! By comparing these two things a person is better able to handle all the problems that arise in this short life. The study of a complete history that examines the right and wrong things that were done is extremely important. Much of the Bible is history, and as such, many of the great lessons in life can be learned from the successes and failures of others in history. One of the mistakes people make when they ignore the Bible is that they also end up ignoring history and God's interaction with men in the past. This error generally leads to repeated mistakes and failures! It is a tremendous advantage in being able to learn from the mistakes of the past to not repeat them!

There are several ways to study and understand history. One way is to study it by concentrating on the great events that changed history. Events like the Civil War. By learning what caused it and what it produced, one can compare it with the problems of today.

Another way to learn history is to learn dates and when things happened.  By comparing what else was going on at the time a good understanding of solving present-day problems will appear!

A good way to learn about the Civil War is to learn the battles that were fought and the outcomes. A military man learns how to fight and win battles by studying these battles.

These are profitable ways to analyze history to get a grasp of what to do today. Another way to learn about the Civil war is to learn about the Generals that led the North and South during this time. Learning about the great leaders that shaped this world we live in is beneficial.

The best way to study history is to look and see what God was doing while the events were happening. It is a great mistake to remove God from history. Without His take on what is going on, history is just a bunch of things that happened with no purpose. That is why unbelievers have abandoned history as having the solutions to today's problems.

History, as taught in the book of II Chronicles, is presented through the lives and actions of the kings of Judah. The history of the prosperous nation of Israel and its downfall is presented in the actions and lives of these kings. By studying the successes, mistakes, and failures of these kings, one is given an insight into how to lead an organization, a business, a family, a church, or a country when God is blessing, and the organization is growing. The ideal thing a leader needs to understand is how to obtain and keep the blessing of God on the group that he oversees! Also, through the actions of some of these kings, a way to lead the nation back to God is presented. A good understanding of II Chronicles from a leadership angle, along with insight into Moses' successes and mistakes in Exodus and Numbers, will give a husband, a father, a business owner, a church pastor, a politician, or any other leader insight into being a good leader.

One of the blessings of being a Christian is that when Bible principals are applied, success is the outcome. Many people can handle failure well, but handling success often causes them to stumble. Learn from the mistakes of these kings and Moses and don't make the same, stupid mistakes!

One of the things the founders of the United States of America learned is the utter failure of a Monarchy form of government. They learned this by experiencing the tyrannical atrocities of King George. I believe they also learned it by being exposed to the Bible.

I am convinced that the solution to the problems our nation is facing today are contained in the often-neglected Bible, especially the book of II Chronicles! The book covers almost 400 years of the decline of the great kingdom of Israel. As such, it gives great insight into the gradual downfall of a country and the resulting eventual collapse. Great emphasis will be placed in this commentary on how to stop the downhill slide and put the country back on its path to blessing by serving God and mankind!

Please take some time and evaluate, absorb, calculate, pray, meditate, and apply these lessons from II Chronicles to enable you to handle the blessings that God intends for you and your country or organization!
